FYI I would guess that bats will tend to feed along the trees at the NW corner of the property (or along any other treed areas nearby). I would go out in the evenings just after sunset and see where the bats (if any) tend to feed, and place the bat house in a suitable location near there.
As far as I know there are two concerns regarding bat houses and trees:
1. Tree branches may shade the house from the sun, especially early morning sun in the summer. Although in some locations, I believe a bit of afternoon shade can prevent the house from getting too hot.
2. Predators (hawks and owls) can roost on branches near the bat house and catch the bats as they enter or exit the bat house. I want to say the rule of thumb is that any branch which could hold a predator should be at least 25 feet away. But I don't remember the exact distance.
Also a comment regarding houses on telephone poles. On hot days, the creosote & preservatives in the pole "outgas" somewhat. I'm not sure of the impact of these gases on bats, but when it is really hot these odors can be quite strong near the surface of the pole. I have a bat house on an old power pole and if I were to do it again, I would offset the house from the pole a little bit so that the gases do not go directly up into the bat house. Or maybe wrap some impervious material around the pole just below the entrance (e.g. sheet metal). That would also serve as a predator guard against predators that can climb (e.g. racoons).
