Mark, and Joe: After finding this forum, I'm going to take my learnings from the forum, take down my nursery bat house, remove the foil back foam insulation, and paint it green. These bat houses were built by my Dad, they have alumnium metal roofs. They are shiney also. I'm going to paint them green. My dad has 2-more houses in his back yard in town. They are mounted on 4-inch, by 6-inch treated post 20-feet long. I going to take them down tomorrow, and move them out to the farm. I have had the one up on the cedar pole for 2-weeks, with no takers. I'm going to relocate that house, with one of his at the edge of my viewing pasture at the tree line, maybe 30-40 feet out from the trees. I going to mount them on the same pole back to back to each other. They will be still 200-yards from the pond. I sure want to get rid of some mosquitoes, and buffalo nats, and enjoy watching the bats come off the roost at sunset. I enjoy cooking out at night, and watching the stars, listening to the whiper wills, coyotes, and owls, and the other night sounds. I'll keep you informed of my progress. Do you have any other advice?
