Tiny Bat?

Postby cloudman75 » Fri Nov 19, 2010 7:32 pm

I checked my new large bat house tonight and saw the smallest bat I have ever seen or a large bug? I tried several snapshots to get a closer photo and the thing flew out. It looked like a very tiny bat. The chamber spacing it was using is 3/4 inches. This little bat did not take up much space. That's the risk one takes using a flash several times, it can drive a bat away. Take a look in the bottom chamber about the center of the shot.. This may be my first bat in the new house. I still have a few freetails and some little browns, and three big browns at times. What do you think? Image

Frank, do you still have the raw picture(s) from your camera? If so please send me a copy to the email in my profile. Don't worry about size, think my limit is at least 25 MB.

I can not tell one way or the other as to exactly what it is and trying to enlarge what you posted is no help.

William,
I put the photo on Kodak Easyshare and deleted it from my camera. I went back out a short while ago with my 18 volt Dewalt lamp and it is gone for sure.
It blows up a little more on Easyshare and looks like a bat but that's what my mind wants me to see LOL. I want these bats to leave so I can finish my hollow pole mount, but with the nice weather they are just hanging around being inactive for the most part.

Looks like a bat to me. At this size could it be a pipistrelle? :tanbigeye:
