I'm based in Perth, Western Australia. I'm passionate about building bat boxes and constantly constructing different types to see what our local bats like. I run bat box building workshops with the aim to attract families to come and learn about the bats and to build their own boxes.
I've tried the American multi-compartment design here but our locals don't seem to like it. They seem to favour the smaller single compartment type based on the English Stebbings design. These also make excellent kit form boxes for the kids to assemble.
At the moment I'm testing polystyrene boxes, Aluminum aircel insulation wrapped around my standard 18mm plywood type, and a product called "Thermilate" which is a additive that "claims" to insulate paint. Not sure if someone is pulling my leg with this stuff.
Anyhow, I think I know what Tomas Eddison felt like constantly experimenting.

Looking forward to learning from you guys...
