So my bat house population has been pathetic as of late with numbers dropping from a high of 16 down to between 1 and 5. Today however I went out and discovered this guy. In the photo he appears very similar to the bats in other photo's I've posted (even my profile pic) but in person this guy is huge in comparison!! I would say from belly to back he is about 1/8" larger than anything I've seen but his body width and length are easily double the size of all previous inhabitants. He also appears to have a different nose shape, ear shape and a much larger wing to body ratio. I'm wondering if you guys think he might be a western pipistrelle? I believe the bats I've had up until this point we're all California Myotis and are quite small.
In comparison to this shot in which one looks very similar but is massively smaller and has a different face/ears.
