This might be a dumb question, is this real?

Postby flyin-lowe » Thu Mar 24, 2011 8:11 pm

I was doing some looking around on youtube today and came across this video. It is either a fake or some type of optical illusion. The bat house doesn't look that big but there are what appears to be thousands of bats coming out. It almost looks like a high quality animation. I am on a laptop and for some reason when I try to go full screen it won't play (part of the reason I thought it was fake.) The other reason is that there are only 2 comments and one of the comments is flagged as spam. If it is real how big is this house really to hold this many bats?

I hope this isn't something obviously stupid, but be easy on me I am a NEWBIE!

There are two houses back to back. No telling how large they are, they appear to be very large..

Here is another video by the same person.

Cool videos, amazing stuff. I was planning to have a large bat house at the top of a post, and a smaller house a few feet beneath it. It looks like the bats pour out of the houses and drop vertically for a while before they flare off sideways. Is it a bad idea to mount one house beneath another, or is there a certain distance I should keep between them? The roof of the smaller house will be about 12" x 26" by the way.

Like I said if it is real it is a bit of an illusion, how bid do you think that house is? It doesn't look big enough to hold that many bats.
