Carmen
This is a great bat house from my experience. It was my first bat house I purchased to exclude a small maternity colony from my attic louver. I still have it and never did paint it. It is still in good shape. The one weakness in the design as
Joe pointed out to me is where the roof butts against the backboard. After a few years the board shrinks and pulls away slightly. I corrected this after 3 years by calking it and adding a few screws to pull it tight to the back board. If you paint it, I would suggest running a bead of calk and adding a few screws before putting it up. It was used the first year and every year since then, It is good for about a 100 bats in the south where it gets around a 100 degrees F. The claim of 300 is a little much to claim for the capacity in my opinion in a hotter climate. It was well made and stll sound after
several years.
