S&K Telescoping Aluminum Pole

Postby SpringvilleRob » Sun Mar 21, 2010 9:44 pm

Hello everyone. I just have a quick question. Has anyone used the 15' S&K Telescoping Aluminum Pole to hang your bat houses on. I put two houses up back to back this weekend and while the pole seems to be pretty hefty with its triangular shape, I am wondering how it will handle windy conditions. Both bat houses together weigh about 16 lbs. The bat house is about 17' off the ground, and the pole is securely strapped (starting approx. 4' off the ground) to an existing 4 x 4 I had previously anchored into the ground. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like it should be fine. Before crevice roosting bats started occupying human dwellings, one of their roosts was utilizing trees which would sway a little in high winds as well. How far is your site from year round water?

Thanks for the response. I am not too worried about the sway, just don't want the darn thing giving out. As far as water, I have a small 1/2 acre pond in my back yard about 100' from the pole.
