Today, I was spreading lime on the clover patch under the bat houses, and I noticed that there was fresh guano under the houses. This really surprised me, since I have never had bats after the end of September, or first week of October. After I got done spreading the lime, I got the flashlight to look up into the houses and saw 6 Big Browns. Apparently, since we are having some warm weather – it has been in the mid-60’s, and is expected to stay warm for through the next week – some of the bats have decided to come back for some more foraging before winter sits in.
Since the Asian Ladybugs are swarming now, maybe the Big Brown’s will help get rid of some of them. But, it is nice knowing they are still here for a while.
