I was checking my houses at the Nature Center tonight when I happened along this dead bat about 20 feet from one of my houses. I found it laying in the grass in this natural pose directly below the louvered attic vent. I inspected it and determined it was a male big brown bat, there were no signs of injury and he was still slightly flexible so he hadn't died long ago. Perhaps it was just his time to go? Although he did seem a bit thin below the ribcage. I am guessing he passed away while roosting in the louvers, and the high winds today knocked him from the roost.
