rough wood for baffles

Thanks Terry and Larry for info on pallet wood. I don't have any companies nearby. I did see some 1x6 nominal size rough cedar fence boards at home depot today for a little over 2 bucks each at 7 ft long. I have no objections to the price and plan to go get a few bucks worth this week. It is rough on both sides, no odor that I could tell so after sitting under the bat houses with guano falling on them, then aging over the winter, the boards should make the bats feel at home next spring.
I have a wild idea of building a multiple temperature house with an insulated section no ventilation, a normal ventilated
section, and a much ventilated section. Just an idea for now and may go down the drain with all my other schemes
which seem foolish after I think on them awhile. It is so hot here that I am hiding in the AC every chance I get for now.
I have had about a hundred or more bats leave here as I counted them on exit tonight. The big 5 chamber is empty, the crazy bats are sweating it out in the unventilated house, and also the three chamber. I plan to buy the wood for building a post similar to what you made and posted Terry. I have my winch and a plan to raise it on paper, so that I don't forget it. The bats normally leave for a few weeks and then return during August, so I am not upset about them going.
They probably are swarming at their cave not too many miles from here I think. I believe this years flying pups are still here as they are not interested in breeding yet.

Frank, I have just recently completed 2 large maternity boxes built in sections mounted with french cleats........it actually was so much easier and more safe doing them in sections/componants........I will post pictures soon!
