Residents can help Mass Wildlife monitor bats

Postby Dave Miller » Fri Aug 19, 2011 12:29 am

Anybody here live in Massachusetts? The state wildlife agency is asking for bat colony data.

The article refers to two large colonies in abandoned mines. One had 8,000-10,000, last winter it had 14. The other had 1,200, last winter it had 1. Devastating.

I am looking into this. I have one LB bat house site which I believe is near hidden a hibernaculum so the bats did not have to go far. I hope I have feedback soon.
