Pups here in NWPA have started flying..............I used to think they all just started flying on the same night kind of like how birds will all fledge from a nest at the same time......
On closer observation it appears that they gradually start flying maybe over a 5 or 7 day period........
Both of my maternity colonies of big and little brown bats here at home definitely have most of the pups flying as of July 14th.
What is interesting is that my big brown mothers move their pups every 2 to 5 days all the way up until the pups are flying......
The little browns don't do this from what I've seen............about a week after the pups are born, the mothers will stay in one box and not roost in another until the pups are flying.........
