Premade bat house options?

Postby Carmen » Mon Feb 02, 2009 11:37 am

I'm not interested in building one, as I have no skills for that kind of thing, nor do I own any tools to cut wood with. I'd want it to be reasonably priced. It doens't have to be too big since I'm just getting started...I'd probably just mount it on a pole. Please let me know any good ones you guys have tried.

Thanks, Carmen

Welcome to the site Carmen! We have many knowledgable people here that can answer almost any question you have about bats and bat houses.
Here is a link to Bat Conservation International's approved bat house makers. These houses meet or exceed the requirements for most of North America's crevice roosting bats. I would reccomend at least a two chamber house to start with, and some models might need to be painted an appropriate color for your area.

I have one of the three chamber premade houses from these folks in Michigan. It may require maintenance on the roof after
3 years, but the bats really like this one. It was my first one the rest I have built and made somewhat larger. It was 55 bucks plus 12 bucks flat shipping on the net. Take a look if interested.
