This is my bathouse in central Texas. It is about 12 feet high and has an open courtyard in front of of it. We are about 1/4 to 1/2 mile from a lake and river. No bats so far after 3 weeks, but I guess it is not unusual to have to wait a while to get some bats. Will being so close to the house be a problem? I didn't think it would as some houses are actuallu attached to a building.

Good post clayman.
Close to the house on a pole is a good installation. Sounds like a great location you have for bats with water that close. It may take a season or so before you get bats, one can never tell. You could get some bats at anytime also so hang in there.
