This is Jan 31 and we have had a rather nice day with a forecast for the high 60s tomorrow and in the high 40s for the night time low. I have been checking my bat houses each night recently and saw one tiny bat tonight. This appears to be the one that spends the winter without going into hibernation, just topor on the very cold nights. It disappears from time to time usually when the temps are in the high 20s. I do believe that bats can forecast weather as this one shows up in winter usually the day before nice weather is here. Anyone else have bats to report?
This little bat has used the warmest bat house that I built last year with the attic space. If I keep the light on it, it will go into the attic.
Update FEB 1,2012 Two additional bats in my old OBC three chamber total of three tonight. Supposed to hit about 70 degrees tomorrow with mild night temp.
