I got out yesterday at dusk with my mechanical trigger counter and counted 95 bats total. Most were little Browns with a few Freetails. Temp here yesterday was in the mid 80s. Tonight we are under a severe storm watch, then a cool front and temps back in the low 70 range for the high. The bats are hunkering down between cold spells and storm warnings it seems as my count is down slightly now from several weeks ago. I had hoped for more bats by now but we don't always get what we want. Maybe spring is here this time, I sure hope so if we can just not get a direct hit from one of these storms.
I see Randy is doing well in LA. I have one bat using my largest 3 chamber new cedar house. The other two new houses are still empty. The old little OBC cedar house is really full of bats and I am thinking too many for pups to be born in. Maybe in a few weeks they will spread to other houses, who knows.
