Martins have strong site fidelity. Once they nest at a place they will stay there as long as they can. As long as predators don't run them off, or trees don't grow to close, they will stay. The more the merrier for them.
If it is allowed I will post a link to the forum that shows photos of his set up. You have to keep in mind that each of those alluminum gourd rack and pole combos cost a little of $400.00 each. The gourds range from $12-$15 each.

If you can keep the sparrows, starlings, and other predators away. Your colony will continue to grow as long as you add housing.

Ouch! Speaking of martin gourds, could you take a close look at the seams of one of your plastic 'gourds' for me? What I am interested in is how consistent they are... Consistent seams are indicative of rotational molding, where as seams that are extremely smooth down two sides and suddenly get a bit rough across one side (the bottom?) indicates blow molding. Sorry, I'm extremely curious about such things  Have answered my own question here, "The SuperGourd is blow-molded" Also need to clarify that the 'seam' in both blow and rotational molding is not a true seam in the plastic part, but a mark left by the parting line of the mold.

Oh, congratulations for cracking the top ten poster list! Watch out though, Emersombiguns and myself are right behind you

I have many different types of gourds and all but one type are one piece. There is no seem.

I had no idea I was in the top 10. The martin forum is a lot more active and people have thousands of posts. How long has this forum been around. I hope people don't judge my knowledge by the number of posts because that is not the case.
