I know the one lone bat who came early and left no guano would chastise us. The four who showed up later will as well. (BTW they left several weeks ago during that very brief cold snap, and just showed back up some time this past weekend.) They are much more likely to scold when disturbed mid day than late evening if this is a clue to species? Also possible it was the same pup we found in front of the house Monday and it recognizes us as a non threat?
Speaking of which, I have had a bad cold he past few days and have not mentioned this story yet. Monday afternoon I took over a bag of outdoor trash since it was full. (Stuff that comes from out side and might have bugs...) A short while later I was working on something else when My wife excitedly informed me the eaves bats were back. Minutes later returning from a quick guano viewing we noticed a pup on the ground right where the bag of trash had been sitting.
Fully furred, (Wish I could get as close of look at the adults!) guessing it could fly some just not fly well enough to get back to the colony. Gently picked it up with a thick cloth and let it climb off on the nearest big tree. Tried taking pictures but none of them are real clear. Will post a couple of the least blurry ones later.
