TO share/post bat house photos and movies, please use the resources below:

PHOTOS
Open another browser window and Go to http://imageshack.us/  or http://photobucket.com/ OR http://www.flickr.com and register and then upload your photo.  Copy the URL you receive (direct link to photo). On some image sites you can right click the photo and select properties which will reveal the URL. Now go back to your original browser window within your forum post window and click on the Img button and paste the URL from image shack or whatever image host you use.  Your image(s) should appear in your post when you hit Preview or Submit post.

VIDEO
Bat and Bat House Video, upload your videos using the link below and after uploading cut and paste the URL to your Youtube video via the bat house forum You-tube button in the bat house forum NEWTOPIC or POST REPLY compose. Additionally, I would post the full URL to any of your videos as well. That way we won't rely on custom posting codes and won't lose the links to your important videos.

South Facing Four-chamber Bat House Siting Recommendations?

Postby Richlandbatgal » Mon Apr 02, 2012 5:01 pm

Hi I have had a 4--chambered bat house on my chimney for several years now. I really only get occupancy in the fall by Little brows and Yuma Myotis during Sept-Oct.

I know they are these species because I have a bat detector near the box. I am thinking about having a box made for the west side of the Chimney. We have hot summers here in south eastern WA. Ave temps for those times last year were; Sept. high=78, Low=50, Oct high=64, low=40. The bat house was a wedding gift and is 5 years old now so it probably needs some re-painting and re-sealing. I would like to monitor the temps inside it this summer. Any ideas on a cheap/easy way to do it? There is also space behind the box against the brick chimney to cool off, though I don't see it used. During the summer I monitor most nights with my bat detector and during that time get bat passes of primarily Hoarys, Silver-haired Bats. The Columbia River is .5 miles away. I've been trying to enhance my yard for wildlife habitat...slowly getting rid of turf grass (since we live in the shrub-steppe desert) and putting in a ornamental grass/meadow garden last year....within those wood chips. Since it's Spring I just cut down all the vertical clumping grasses. Anyway, I would appreciate some feedback on another box on the west side of the chimney. Comments on the one there and how to easily get the temps on the inside of that box.

I had Pics to send via imageshack but I couldn't include them....'Your Post looks too spamy for a new user' So I can't send them...which was mostly the point of this post.

Just a note to those that think all of WA state is rainy, cloudy and green. We get ave. 6 inches of rainfall yearly and get into the high ninety's in August at least.
Thanks a million! Laurie

Nothing personal, but new members can not post pictures or links until Joe unblocks them. Used to be after three posts it would automatically let you, but the spammers learned they could post three "That's nice!" messages, then come back the next day and edit all three and add a link to a spam site.

Oh. That's too bad because the pictures of the bat house siting is key. I really don't know what else to post about.
I appreciate your reply though.
Thanks.

I'm new to the bat forum. My brother built a bat house for me and after having it up only a few weeks I have bats! Had about six last night. I tried to upload a photo so I could get help from you to identify what kind of bats they are, but couldn't upload. After reading some of these posts, I guess I need to do a few more posts to be able to add photos! (I'm not too good at this stuff and learning as I go). I appreciate all your comments! My bat house is in Lumberton, Texas.
