Curious if most have seen a big increase in last couple of weeks like my house? I was up to around 183 or so tonight. Coming out so fast at times hard to count. I noticed since temp in 80's I have picked up. I am filling all 5 chambers up now. Still only 1 in new house. Oh well maybe others will move as have pups..

That is great news Randy! My total number is at around 20 bats...........10 little browns and 10 big browns.........about normal for this time of year.......I was real happy last night to see the little browns..especially since wns has been confirmed 50 miles south of me...........

As far as you only having one bat in the new house........it is the same for me with new bat houses..........the mothers are real leery of using a new bat house......Only time they use a new box right away is if the colony has been roosting in bat boxes for many years......10+

I'm guessing by mid or late summer your new box will be full of bats............

Well tonight shot pix and they are filling up the southern most chamber which should be the hottest. Last night a big storm with high winds and rain and lightning came thru at 3 am. Luckily house came thru ok and all were in. I got 188 to 189 tonight. The small house seems very full. Still that one bat in new house. He came out as nr 34. Kept flying back up to opening and then on 4 time went back in for 5 min or so...
Well maybe by summer they will "overflow" into the new house. I think having one there may help.

I checked tonight here at home and my numbers were the same.........about 10 big browns and about 10 little browns........I have not checked any other sites yet........I thought I would have had an increase because we are finally getting some warmer weather........high of 65 today......

I counted bats for two nights as they come out so fast I have to do one house at a time with a mechanical counter and be quick on the trigger.
I have 91 bats in one house and 75 in another for a total of 166 counted. All my freetail bats have returned and I have at least 90. They fly twice as fast as Little Browns and have long slender wings. The bats are using two old houses not the three new ones I built. I do have one bat that uses a new cedar house.
