My beautiful daughter Kalyssa...she will be taught the basics of organic gardening, love for all creatures great or small and especially bats, and the humane harvest of our natural resources while promoting the future of our sustainable desires with the utmost respect to the living plants and animals on this planet.

Cute daughter Nate.
Sounds like a well rounded education you have planned for her. I used to get organic gardening mag at one time.
I planted some flowers under my most used bat house and the guano burned them up this year.
They were salvia and also zinnia. My tomato plants like the guinea house clean out just fine and are looking good.

Great picture, reminds me of my daughter (I have both a son & a daughter). I tried to get my kids interested in gardening but it never really caught on. Every child is different, try not to be too disappointed if her interests don't line up exactly with yours.

My kids do have a small interest in bats but I only developed that interest myself when the kids were about 11 & 9 (they are 20 & 17 now). My daughter & I were walking the dog the other day and she pointed out a bat to me and said "Look! A bat! Aren't you proud of me for pointing that out?", which made me smile. My son recently changed his major to biology at a school where they do a lot of research with bats, so who knows what may come of that.

Speaking of organic gardening, I started with that but now I have become quite fascinated with permaculture, and am turning my backyard into a "food forest". Here is a good introduction to permaculture (48 minutes): http://www.viddler.com/explore/PermaScience/videos/4/
