Help-newbie-is bat house swaying a problem?

Postby evozoom » Sun May 02, 2010 5:05 pm

Newbie here. I did a search and did not find enough info. Found bats in my attic so I built a bathouse and mounted it on a 21 foot 3" diameter steel heavy duty pole. After 2 weeks I am going to put the "check valve" on the place they are entering my attic. Its been windy here and the house does undulate about 1/2 inch or so in the gusts. I know it would make me sick being in there. Will this deter the Bats from using it?

My three houses on metal poles sway a lot maybe 3 inches in high winds here. The bats never have had a problem with that. My opinion is that if your house undulates a half inch it won't bother the bats. I have seen other posts on the forum in the past which share my opinion about sway.

Thanks cloudman. I put the "check valve" on my attic tonight around 6pm. I waited until after the half of the Cavs game (9:00 EST-tish) and came out and saw at least three bats flying. If they are from my attic I hope they use the "free" hotel.
