I recieved my bat house yesterday. I waited until the bats exited the gable vent last evening before I hung it up. Counted 57 bats coming out of the vent last night. That has been pretty standard (between 55 and 60 each night). I will wait a couple of days before I see if any bats are using the new house. Hopefully they will transition well.

Yes that's it except my son and I stenciled a bat in the middle and put "James's Bat House" (That of course is my sons name). He thinks its cool

The gable vent in the top of the house is where the bats are roosting. I will hang the house close to the vent when I can find a "SAFE" way to do it.

Ya, A long ways up !! I don't have a ladder that reaches that high and I don't want to hang over the roof. I believe that I can find someone with a "bucket lift". I know that it is said that the bats like "hanging out" 15 to 25 feet off of the ground but I measured the distance and the vent is 32 feet high. However when I look out straight from the vent there is kind of a funnel area (clearing) that heads straight to a creek about 1/4 mile away. A straight shot. They know what they want. Lots of bugs......

That looks like vinyl siding, how will you attach it?

Stainless steel screws might be the best way to mount it.........

I have some 3" long stainless steel screws that will work.
