Good Place to find!! a bat is in my office

Postby Trish & Harley (GA) » Wed Jan 04, 2012 2:51 pm

Thank you!
ok, I have a bat that has decided to roust beside my desk at work. I am in southern Ontario, and noticed him there when i came back to work yesterday. he doesn't seem to have moved at all last night, and he's just hanging there.
I guess I should just leave him be... any other suggestions???

an update - HE MOVED!!! not from the spot, but his little arm and head have changed positions. I tried to leave the lights off in the office last night, but the boss came in after I left and turned them on. Tonight the lights will be off!!! the bat can go anywhere he wants to, I'd just like him to move so I won't be so stressed abt him - looks like he's not stressed at all...

Wow! Your from Ontario? My guess is that it's a big brown.....they sometimes come out in the winter to get a drink......He probably was hibernating in a nearby attic......

He's still there. We turned off as many lights as we could last night. Got in this am and he has moved, not location, but body is over a couple of inches. I am leaving out a little dish of water for him, and there are a lot of spiders here... I like to think he's enjoying my company through the day... - yep, silly I know

I have never heard of such a thing in your area........you could get some mealworms in case he wants something to eat.......bat rehabbers use a lot of mealworms to feed their bats.........

Update... yes he's still here. My dh made a quick bat house for him out of a cardboard box on Friday. Came in Monday am and could see his nose pearing out of the box. This morning he's not in the box, and has moved down the wall a few feet - right by a spider web that has a fly in it. he is tiny, but still here. I do leave water out for him every night. The weather is cold, not as cold as normal, but it will be getting colder by the end of the week. Bosses don't mind that he's here.

Any chance you got any pictures? Most people would have freaked out and overracted, I can't believe he stuck with you in the office that long.
