first house and question

Bat Houses Bat House Discussion!

Postby bimojoe » Tue Sep 25, 2007 7:31 pm

    Hi,
My first bat house and first post. I've been reading this forum for a while now and decided to build a bat house. I constructed a 3 baffle roosting house and mounted it on my chimney. I stained it a color similar to the bricks, so it sort of matches. It faces SE and receives ~ 8-9 hours of sun each day. I live in central Maryland.

So I think I did most things correctly. My question is, since it's so late in the year is there a chance that a bat or two might use it during migration?

By the way, this is a great forum with very helpful members.

I would say you have a good chance of getting one or two little brown bat bachelors this year.........if not this year probably next year!

Welcome and fantastic!  Sounds like you may have a good chance but don't be surprised if you don't get anything until next spring-summer.  If you have any digital pics of your setup it would be welcomed!

I'll be out of town for a few days. When I return, I'll send in some pictures.
