Nate, from the sounds of your weather and the guano splatter, your bats might be swarming..........on eveings when it is very warm and humid I almost always observe my little browns swarming as they exit........not sure why that is........maybe they are feeding close by since humid weather brings out more insects.....

I always have more bats around my pole light on warm humid nights too.........

Finally! It's been over a year and a half since I relocated the slanted baffle house and a big brown is finally using the slanted baffles. The temperatures once again have been unusually hot here with daytime temps in the mid 90's and heat index of well over 100 degrees. Hopefully this is a sign of more bats to come in this design, if only in hot weather.

Yes, I can see where the slanted baffle design would appeal to big browns.......lots of ventilation which they really seek out this time of year.............my big browns are moving all around to different boxes almost on a nightly basis.......

This big brown keeps coming back to the slanted baffles every morning. Kinda surprising that it took so long and now he doesn't seem to want to leave!

Great news on that Nate. I was optimistic that slanted design would appeal to a BB sometime. Congrats.

March 15th 2011 and one big brown is back in the old NW house. They definately seem to have a good pattern of returning in mid to late March every year. Temps have been in the high 40's to mid 50's during the day and upper 30's to low 40's at night.

I now have 1 bat in the slanted baffle/standard house, 5 bats in the old NW house, and 1 bat in the attic louvers. Looks like it might be a good year for my big browns...if only I could get a maternity colony!!!

I would say it will just be a matter of time Nate.......my big brown mothers seem to be more fussy than my little brown mothers......my big brown mothers will move their pups every 3 to 5 days where the little browns will stay put usually until pups are flying..........
