I think they are voting on it this weekend so you should contact them right away.
Here is the link to send a letter to your representative: http://batcon.org/index.php/get-involve ... &topicID=2
Dear bat supporter,
As White-nose Syndrome ravages more and more bat colonies, many North American bat species face the very real threat of extinction. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is currently considering three species - little brown bats, eastern small-footed myotis and northern myotis - for endangered or threatened species listing because of this spreading wildlife disease. But new legislation could stop those efforts and block federal protection for those bats.
In the coming days, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on a funding bill that would prevent the government from listing additional species that need protection. This legislation could be a death sentence for entire species of bats.
Thankfully, Representatives Norm Dicks (D-WA) and Mike Thompson (D-CA) will offer an amendment to remove this lethal provision from the bill. But the sponsors - and the bats - need your help in convincing a majority of the House to approve the amendment. Please send a message urging your Representative to support Reps. Dicks and Thompson's amendment to remove this provision from the House Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill.
Don't wait till it's too late. Act now.
As always, thank you for helping bats.
Best Wishes,
Nina Fascione
Executive Director
