Bats wishes for 2010!

Postby Erik » Thu Dec 31, 2009 11:52 am

Hello everybody,

no bat picture this time, but a rabbit in the snow (with live snowflakes, thanks to Joe!). We have more snow this year than usual for the Netherlands.
It has been a busy and strange year for me, and that's why I have been pretty quiet on the forum last months.
But I have worked on the design and building of the first bat-tower in new style in the Netherlands and two buildings that have been rebuild for bats.
I am trying to post about those soon!

Have a great New Years Eve and a wonderful 2010! .

The postcard says: Best wishes for 2010! in Dutch.

Thanks Erik! Happy New Year to all.

I hope to build two more slate-exterior bat houses for use on the refuges, but I'm not sure when I'll have time. Also I plan to take down my backyard bat house in the next year or two. It has gotten very little use and we just had a landscape plan done which does not include a big old bat house pole  . I would like to try a smaller house attached to the chimney. I am thinking that something which covers the east, south and west sides might be good. Probably just one or two chambers, with a slate exterior.

Happy New Year, everyone!

I, too, am hoping for more bats this Spring. I may even get another box built. :D
