Bat Houses w/ Bats in the Southeast for Photo Project

Postby Jeff Mittelstadt » Tue Apr 19, 2011 10:39 am

Good morning,

I am producing a short documentary-style photojournalism project on bats and White Nose Syndrome in North Carolina for a class in my master's program at UNC-Chapel Hill. I am looking to take photos of bat houses and bats this week. Does anybody have bats using your bat house, and if so whether you would mind if I came by to take some pictures of them and the bat house at your convenience. I would be more than happy to discuss by phone first.

Thanks so much!

Best,
Jeff Mittelstadt

Hi Jeff, welcome to the bat house forum. Hopefully someone close to you will pop up and reply. If not, you might try the cavers forum http://www.cavechat.org/ less hard core than us in regards to multiple houses / nursery colonies but there are a *lot* of folks over there that have a single bat house. Worth a try if you strike out here.

Good morning everybody,

It seems I have exhausted all the options I can find in North Carolina. My project is due next week and I am willing to drive to neighboring states (Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee). This may seem like a weird request, so I would be happy to talk by phone first (cell phone below and you can see some of my recent work here: http://www.vimeo.com/user5703050). Would any of you be open to me coming by to get some pictures of your bat houses and the bats that are using them?

Thank you for your help and have a great Monday!

Best,
Jeff
