Markcuda,
I used 4x6 treated ground contact post to support my 20 x16 sunroom 14 years ago. I dug a hole 2x2 ft and poured cement around the posts above grade about 1 inch. Still doing fine, no rot or insects as I can see.
I had about 6 inches of gravel in the bottom of each hole.

Frank, I am so wishy washy, it is down right pathetic
This Saturday, I am going to look at a 30 foot used utility pole.
If I can cut 20 feet out of it with out it being real big at the bottom, I might get it.
If I go with this pole, I won't use any cement

Just search for Gary Springer's posts on this forum as he had some coments last year about this time that you may find interesting on cedar and plicatic acid.
When you search it will list all his posts and highlight them as I recall.

You are welcome William. I sent you a private message so check it out. I would like to see one of your bat boxes in the future. I think that you are in Georgia.
I saw a post from Douglasville if I can find it again. That is less than 5 miles from me.

Found and replied... I will be in Paulding county on a week day towards the middle of August visiting relatives, perhaps we could meet that day? Wrong end of the county from you but still a bunch closer than where I live! If I get it finished in time will have at least one bat house with me anyway, can easily bring a second one as well.
