In my original post of the bat house drawings I didn't have room for all the details. Two problems with bat houses are that the interior baffles will warp and the bat house is almost impossible to clean.

In this design, all the interior baffles rest on the two 2" cross members which are attached to the outside sidewalls with 4 screws on each side. By removing these 4 screws the entire "guts" of the bat house will slide out the bottom.

Letting the baffles just hang free in the grooves of the two 2" cross members will keep them from warping.

The whole bat house weighs 59 pounds, but the interior "guts" only weigh 24 pounds and should be easy to remove for maintenance. The 3/4" blocks are installed and attached to the baffles so they will rest on the top 2" cross member. All fasteners are screws for easy removal.

Jack,
Back in 2010 Dave Miller was thinking about building a removable slat house, and we posted on the subject. I had already built one, but to date have not removed the baffles. The baffles were held in with screws from the sides. I had used some screening which I thought might need replacing in the future.
My idea was very simple and not as nice as yours. My house was also smaller only 12 inches wide so had no provisions to prevent warping of the baffles.
The link above goes to our discussion.

Removable componants is definitely worth the extra effort because you can mount it in separate parts that weigh less and it makes future maintenance easier........

Terry the plastic shells I got from William will have removable baffles because it seems an easy way for me to do it. Nothing fancy planned just spacers of 3/4 inch strips for the baffles and screws in the sides into the spacers. I will probably use 3 or 4 to the side of deck screws. I have the rough cedar boards to make them, but not up to it right now. I can't seem to get my chores caught up recently. Today was beautiful, 70 plus degrees and sun. Three little bats tonight.
I am heading out with a light about midnight to see if any more came in to visit during the warm spell. I go to bed late and rise late so my schedule is OK for bat watching.
