Has anyone ever purchased the "Bat Call" Lure? It is supposedly a one-of-a-kind lure is used to attract bats to bat houses. It is composed of bat guano along with other secret ingredients to produce a natural scent which bats find attractive.

I emailed them and they told me it is the real deal bat guano. I do not know what the secret ingredient is. I have listed the name of the company and their address below.

Yep, I bought it. I have it in a couple of my bat houses and it has not worked but I also have houses that it's not in and there's no bats in them either so who knows.

Some folks say that it's possible that you deter some species of bats from using the house if you put guano of another species in the house but there again who really knows. I say try experimenting, if you have a few different houses to play with. Or you could see if the owner of that old building would let you up in the attic to gather some bat guano from the colony that used to be there and use it.  That way your sure you have the proper species.

I have made guano solutions out of bat guano and water and then saturated the chambers with the solution.  I didn't really see much of a difference between the occupancy rate between the "fresh" new house and the guano solution saturated new bat house.  It only involved a few bat houses though. Although this may be out-dated it is likely not helpful if you use guano from a non-local species.  If you are from Montana and attracting little and big brown bats (local bat house users) and order some guano online which is possibly originating from the Mexican-freetail bat from a Bracken Cave or another in Texas or elsewhere then it may in fact act as a deterrent rather than as an attractant.  I know it's catch 22.  How do you use guano if you have no bats to produce it at the start?  Maybe you could place an ad in your town and say your seeking bat guano and someone locally might respond.  When I started to ask in my town years ago many people pointed me to numerous bat colonies which provided me with guano.  At one point some data from this was potentially part of the NABHRP North American Bat House Research Project through BCI.

I've never used lure, but have mounted a bat house next to one frequently used. Then once I had some usage in the new house I took it down and remounted it on a pole where I was doing an exclusion. I had bats in it right away.  These were little and big brown bats.

I have 12 bat houses mounted on and around my house. When I put up a new one usually they investigate it within one or two weeks. But heavy usage seems to take longer, like a year or two.  I think the idea of having some bat scent already inside the bat house is something worth experimenting with.
