The last two evenings, the wife and I walk around our block.
Both nights, two bats are flying real close to the ground and darn neeeeeert hitting us.
The wife flips out, I tell her to man up and be have and act like a human being
They would circle us for about 2 minutes and fly away and start flying higher in the air.
I thought it was cool as he ll.

Yeah it is definitely cool! I was just out kayaking with my daughter tonight and bats were all around us.......they came close but did not touch us..........sometimes I think they are just curious.......

Iowa Nate on here has one of the best stories I have ever heard about a close encounter with a bat! I retell it every time I do a talk on bats........if you browse through his posts you can read about it!

I couple years ago I was watching bats around my light pole having a feeding frenzy over moths........2 of them had a mid-air collision and another one flew right into the light pole! Both recovered in flight with no problem........

In reference to Terry commenting about my story, I actually put myself in a position for a bat to land on me during thier nightly "rest stops" in a boat house on the Mississippi River. The bats had been continually landing on a certain spot on the concrete wall on the boat house, so I just stood there VERY still, back against the wall, and as luck would have it a little brown bat landed on my chest and I was able to observe it upclose and personal!
